Award establishes $2 million endowment for Center for Chronic Disorders of Aging

The Osteopathic Heritage Foundation has awarded $2 million to the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine to establish the Osteopathic Heritage Foundation Endowment for the Center for Chronic Disorders of Aging.  The endowed chair position will help osteopathic physicians develop clinical research leadership skills.

Foundation supports completion of musculoskeletal research laboratory

With $1.5 million from the Osteopathic Heritage Foundation, the University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth is closer to completing its state-of-the-art Osteopathic Heritage Foundation Musculoskeletal Research Laboratory in the university’s Center for Bio Health.

More than $400,000 awarded to southeastern Ohio schools for Healthy & Fit Initiative

Seven school districts will each receive $50,000 from the Osteopathic Heritage Foundation of Nelsonville over the next 12 months to help implement activities that support the Foundation's Healthy & Fit Initiative. Each district successfully completed the capacity-building phase of the initiative and will now focus on further developing its school health council and implementing physical activity and nutrition programming.

The funded districts are Alexander Local School District, Athens City School District, Federal Hocking Local School District, Nelsonville-York City School District and Trimble Local School District, all in Athens County; Vinton County Local School District and Morgan County Local School District.

In addition, the Foundation awarded $53,741 to Ohio University’s Voinovich Center to conduct an external evaluation of the three-year Healthy & Fit Initiative in southeastern Ohio.

Foundation designates $115,000 for food enrichment program

Hocking.Athens.Perry Community Action Program will receive funds over 18 months to support its food enrichment program, helping improve access to healthy, affordable fresh fruits and vegetables for low-income southeastern Ohio residents.

Hocking College receives additional $25,000 for nursing scholarships

The Osteopathic Heritage Foundation of Nelsonville recently allocated $25,000 to the David S. Fraedrich Memorial Scholarship at Hocking College.  The scholarship was established in 2003 with $50,000 from the Osteopathic Heritage Foundations to honor their former board member and is awarded annually to Athens and Hocking county students pursuing nursing degrees at Hocking College.

Foundation contributes $25,000 to United Appeal campaign

$25,000 was approved by the Osteopathic Heritage Foundation of Nelsonville to support the United Appeal for Athens County’s 2007 Annual Campaign.  Consistent with the Foundation’s mission, the funds are designated for 14 direct service agencies working to improve health and quality of life for vulnerable residents of Athens County, Ohio.
