Osteopathic Heritage Foundation provides $2 million to establish an endowment at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey - School of Osteopathic Medicine
With a $2 million award from the Osteopathic Heritage Foundation, the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey - School of Osteopathic Medicine will establish an endowment to support primary care research, focusing initially on aging and osteopathic principles and practice.
The endowment is aimed at sustaining a program to develop leaders in clinical research among osteopathic physicians at the school and throughout the osteopathic profession. This includes increasing the number of medical students, residents, fellows and clinical faculty participating in research in primary care, aging and osteopathic-related topics, as well as preparing osteopathic physicians to assume leadership roles in primary care research.
The program's first endowed professor will be Thomas Cavalieri, DO, chairman of the school's Department of Internal Medicine and director of the geriatric fellowship program.
