Susan G. Komen® Columbus Funding Partnership Awards Announced

The Osteopathic Heritage Foundation of Nelsonville (OHFN) and Susan G. Komen® Columbus (Komen Columbus) recently announced funding awards through the 2019-2020 Southeastern Ohio Breast Health Initiative.

“The Osteopathic Heritage Foundation of Nelsonville is proud to partner with Komen Columbus to improve access to screening and treatment of breast cancer in southeastern Ohio.  The patient navigation model and strategic funding awards supported through the partnership are critical to early detection and timeliness of treatment,” said Susan Beaudry, vice president.

With a shared commitment to improving health and quality of life in southeastern Ohio, the Foundation and Komen Columbus formed a funding partnership in 2016 to improve the continuum of care in six underserved counties in the region.  This is the third year the Foundation and Komen Columbus have partnered through the Southeastern Ohio Breast Health Initiative.

“Along the way we offer individualized education and assistance to navigate and access the healthcare system,” said Julie McMahon, director of mission at Komen Columbus.  “We break down financial, transportation and childcare barriers.  We provide guidance on securing necessary social needs referrals in an effort to address health disparities.”

Komen Columbus distributed funding awards across their region in central and southeastern Ohio, with the Foundation supporting efforts in southeastern Ohio.

The following organizations were awarded a total of $872,000 through the partnership in 2019.
