About the Osteopathic Heritage Foundations
The Osteopathic Heritage Foundation and Osteopathic Heritage Foundation of Nelsonville (the Foundations) are 501(c)(3) private, independent foundations. The Foundations are governed by separate, independent boards of directors, but share a common mission of advancing osteopathic medicine on a local and national scale, and supporting community health in central and southeastern Ohio, consistent with our osteopathic heritage.
The Program Officer is an additional position to support expansion of the Foundations’ grantmaking programs. Primary duties include development and implementation of approved funding priorities and initiatives; measuring and documenting the impacts of the Foundations’ grantmaking; contributing to the grants management process; and participating in the implementation of the communications plan. In addition, the Program Officer will be assigned certain program and organizational management responsibilities and will collaborate with other Foundation staff in fulfilling these responsibilities, as assigned by the Vice President or President/CEO. The ideal candidate for the position of Program Officer will have an advanced degree, with over ten years of professional experience, preferably in the nonprofit, philanthropic, and/or public sector. Direct experience and knowledge of current Foundation priorities, including behavioral health and substance use disorders, food security and healthy food access, and/or osteopathic medical education and research, is an asset. Additional preferred qualifications include: commitment to the vision, mission, and values of the Foundations; ability to develop relationships and work collaboratively with people from diverse racial, ethnic, economic, and social backgrounds; experience in managing, directing, and delegating; commitment to supporting a healthy work culture, demonstrating mutual respect for coworkers, developing positive relationships, and assisting coworkers as needed; and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
