Komen Columbus and OHFN Launch New Funding Partnership

In recognition of breast cancer awareness month in October, the Osteopathic Heritage Foundation of Nelsonville and Susan G. Komen Columbus launched the Southeastern Ohio Breast Health Initiative. The funding partnership is designed to reduce barriers and increase access to breast health services.

The initiative is designed to support organizations developing pathways for women to learn about breast health, risk factors and screening practices, as well as increasing the availability of mobile mammography in targeted Appalachian communities. In addition, the initiative will support organizations developing a patient navigation model to improve quality, timeliness and adherence of care throughout the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer. The Foundation and Komen Columbus seek to increase the total number of individuals receiving services in Athens, Hocking, Meigs, Morgan, Perry and Vinton counties.

The partnership is currently accepting grant applications for the initiative through January 17, 2017, with award notifications to be announced in March 2017. For more information, please visit the Komen Columbus grant application website.
