Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine Endowed Research Chair Appointed

Recognizing the importance of translational research on pressing health issues and chronic diseases, the OHF Vision 2020 support will help advance the Heritage College's research strategy. Most recently, this included the appointment of a new endowed research chair holder, named in honor of one of Doctors Hospital's founders, Harold Clybourne, D.O. Dr. Clybourne, an orthopedic surgeon and graduate of Des Moines College of Osteopathic Medicine, served as a Doctors Hospital Trustee for nearly thirty years and was the first Chairman of the Department of Orthopedic Surgery.

In recognition of his significant contributions to Ohio University and the Heritage College as well his successes in the musculoskeletal and neurological disorders research field, Brian Clark, Ph.D. has been selected as the Harold E. Clybourne, D.O., Endowed Research Chair.

Dr. Clark is a translational physiologist who has received a number of external grants in support of his research goals to develop effective and implementable interventions that increase muscle function and physical performance in older adults and patients of any age who have orthopedic and neurologic disabilities. In addition to his duties as Chair, Dr. Clark serves as executive director of the Ohio Musculoskeletal and Neurological Institute and as a professor of physiology, neuroscience and geriatric medicine.
